Omer Floating Marker

Bottom Marker.

Finding a good spot on the bottom and loosing track of it happens to everyone but with a bottom marker there are a lot of additional advantages.

It's advisable to use a high strength visible line like the Yellow Dyneema line we offer (code 11426) or any other line that is easy to spot even in murky conditions. On the other extremity of the line a 2lb or heavier weight is used to hit the bottom rapidly when the floating marker is released to the bottom.

1. A specific spot is found on a GPS or bottom machine. Once the spot has been marked the bottom marker is deployed to mark the spot.

2. The diver find a good ledge or crack that holds fish that is not easily recognizable from the surface or the murky water. With a bottom marker the spot can be marked and returned to later fishing in the whereabouts or waiting for the suspension in the hole to lift and the water clear up.

3. It also can be used to attach the gun directly to the end of the line without the weight to keep a rocked up fish in traction. Sometimes its useful in working a fish that feeling constant tension from the float eventually gives up.

4. The last example is advisable only to very experienced freedivers and spearfishermen in that it entails advantages for deep diving. Descending very deeply one may need to release the weight belt thereby hooking it directly to the bottom marker float line.

One of the principle advantages of the bottom marker compared to other floats and markers is the simple cleat molded to the bottom of the float which makes it easy to tie off the desired length of line without having excess floating behind which skewes the location of the actual spot.
